What types of scars do you remove?
Our Scar removal treatment uses a fractional laser to aid:
Which treatment is best for scar removal?
At Laserlife we offer two methods of reducing the appearance of scarring, Fractional Resurfacing, and DermaRoller treatment.
If you are unsure which treatment might be the best for you, don’t worry, we can help. Before any treatment commences, you will require a consultation.
During this, we can take a close look at the scar and determine which treatment would be the best for you, unless you have a preference for a particular treatment.
Regardless of which treatment you choose, we personalise each treatment to your needs, goals and skin condition in order to achieve maximum results.
Fractional Laser for scar removal
Unlike other laser treatments, fractional laser treatment precisely treats thousands of microscopic areas of skin using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the skin’s surface.
It creates microscopic zones of thermal injury in both the epidermis (the top layer of skin) and dermis (the second layer). However, it leaves the surrounding islands of tissue undamaged.
These microthermal zones stimulate the body’s own natural healing process. As a result, it eliminates old, damaged cells and stimulates the formation of new collagen (the main support structure of skin).
Pure Roller is also known as dermal roller and collagen stimulation therapy. The Dermapure Pure Roller System is a natural way to improve the appearance of your skin and reverse the signs of ageing. Scar removal, moderate wrinkles, stretchmarks, age spots and mild pigmentation can all be successfully treated. The Pure Roller uses 200 very fine needles designed to achieve a ‘controlled injury’ to the skin without damage, leading to increased production of fresh collagen and elastin. The needles create temporary microchannels into the skin allowing greater absorption of products and ingredients.
Laser Scar Removal | Fractional
How is fractional laser different from other lasers?
Whereas traditional resurfacing lasers strip the entire skin surface, fractional treatments target between 5 and 35% of the surface. This leaves the remainder available to rapidly heal the treated areas.
Fractional laser therapy can treat:
- Acne scarring
- Surgical Scars
- Stretch marks
- Age spots, patchy pigmentation
- Fine lines and wrinkles (including around the eyes)
- Skin tone and texture on the face, neck, chest, and hands
- ‘Open pores’
- Sunspots or solar keratosis
Prior to scar removal treatment, you must first undergo a consultation.
During this, we will obtain your medical history and treatment goals in order to confirm suitability.
Before proceeding, we will ask you to sign a consent form and undergo a patch test 72 hours before treatment.
Scar Removal Treatment
The procedure will start with fully cleansing the treatment area. We will then cool the area with cold air to minimise as much discomfort as possible.
Once the procedure starts you will feel a sharp, pricking sensation and a build-up of heat ( just like sunburn).
Following the treatment, we will cover the area with Lynton light sooth. Followed by another 10 minutes of cooling time on the skin. We will then repeat the session every 4,6 or 8 weeks depending on your skin type.
Recovery depends on the levels used, generally, on the first treatment, most people would have to hibernate for about 3 to 4 days. It varies a little bit depending on the wavelengths used for your particular treatment.
Deeper treatments often leave more of a red swollen sunburnt look and usually will last for a maximum of a week.
However, if your face is receiving the treatment. You can put make up on top of it, so generally after 3 to 4 days, depending on the strength we use, people can go back to work with make-up on.
Following the treatment, the area will appear very red and may be swollen. It will feel hot and tender for several hours following that treatment.
The redness ( similar to sunburn) and swelling may last a few days. You can minimise this with the application of cold compresses. To reduce facial swelling, we advise sleeping with your head raised high on pillows.
In order to minimise skin heating and reduce the likelihood of skin reactions, we will cool the treatment area after the procedure. Once you get home, you may like to apply a cold compress. If applying an ice pack at home always put ice in a clean plastic bag and wrap in a soft cloth.
While redness maintains do not indulge in any heavy drinking, going to the sauna or heavy exercise. Those activities may increase the redness in your skin.
The skin will feel tight following the treatment and using Lynton light soothe for a day or two following your treatment can help relieve this.
Starting on day 2-3, the skin will appear flakey and have a bronzed appearance. This is because the epidermal debris come to the surface; this generally lasts about 5 days ( on face) 10 days ( on body). This is a positive sign and indicates the skin is regenerating.
The skin will return to normal by day 7 to 10, although some flakes may remain for up to 14 days.
- You should avoid makeup until the skin has completely healed
- Use SPF daily
- DO NOT pick the skin during the healing process.
PureRoller Scar Removal Treatment
How does it work?
The principle behind Pure Rolling is stimulating and accelerating cell renewal plus new collagen, without damaging the epidermis.
The very fine titanium needles cause a controlled injury to the skin
As the skin repairs itself, new collagen is then deposited in the papillary dermis resulting in the Retes ridges plumping from underneath. This smooths out wrinkles, fine lines, and indented scars.
The skins strength, collagen, and elastin will improve, resulting in a rejuvenated, smooth and youthful complexion. As well as reducing the appearance of scars.
Regular treatments results in firmer, smoother and more youthful skin.
Before proceeding with treatment, you will first need to attend a FREE consultation.
A medical aesthetician will meet with you to understand your concerns and skincare goals. They will carry out an assessment of your skin and take a set of baseline photographs. We can refer back to this throughout your treatment plan to assess the effectiveness of the treatment, and monitor the skin’s improvement.
We will recommend a personalised skincare plan will based on your skin type and problem areas.
The Pure Roller Treatment
Your skin will be double cleansed using Dermaquest Peptide Glyco cleanser on dry skin with dry hands to remove all makeup. We will then prep the skin with primer to ensure the skin is ready for treatment. We will then apply anesthetic for 30-40 minutes before the procedure to ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible.
If the treatment is on the face, the treatment will start from the top of the forehead working our way down.
Our clinician will repeat the process until we have covered the whole face. Following this, we will then massage the skin to ensure all the nutrients from the blood spotting and serums have penetrated. Then we will place you under an LED white light to stimulate healing and collagen on a deeper level.
In terms of pain, the treatment is often described as a scratching sensation and you may feel some discomfort.
