Hair Removal Treatment
If you are done with plucking, tweezing, waxing and shaving to remove your unwanted hair. Then it might be time to try the more permanent method with laser hair removal.
What is laser hair removal?
Laser Hair Removal is one of the most sought-after treatments for permanent silky smooth skin. With no recovery time and almost instant results that last longer.
Laser hair removal is a popular treatment for men and women. It uses laser technology to specifically target the hair root to destroy it stopping it from growing back again. With the precision targeting, you can now remove unwanted hair from almost every part of your body.
How does Laser Hair Removal work?
It works by beaming a highly concentrated light into hair follicles, when this happens, pigment in the follicles absorbs the light and this destroys the hair.
Benefits of laser hair removal
There could be a number of reasons for wanting laser hair removal, whether it’s to remove excess hair caused by a medical condition, or to have silky smooth skin all year round, whatever the reason, Laserlife can help.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
At Laserlife, we have a wide range of experience treating PCOS patients with laser hair removal. As a result, we are able to offer an effective treatment plan, with clear realistic recommendations to those seeking hair removal.
Hirsutism Hair Removal
Hirsutism treatment at Laserlife Clinic offers each patient a personalised treatment plan for the removal of excess hair. Laser hair removal is a great treatment for people suffering from Hirsutism and can offer long-term relief.
We have been providing hair removal treatments to Transgender patients for many years. Our patients are extremely happy with the level of service they receive within our clinics from our sensitive, professional caring clinicians.
Which laser is the best for laser hair removal?
Both the Alexandrite and the ND- Yag methods provide long-lasting results for hair removal.
Alexandrite is the Gold standard treatment for hair removal which goes to more depth and intensity to destroy the hair follicle, which means it’s more suitable for a light skin type.
ND- Yag wavelength can be more suitable for darker skin. Darker skins have a higher level of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour, so it absorbs light at a faster rate than light coloured skin.
Laser Hair Removal Patch Test
Your practitioner will explain any risks of the laser hair removal treatment and conduct a patch test on the treatment area. You’ll then need to wait 24 hours before starting your treatment, so we can make sure that you have not had an adverse reaction in the area we’ve tested. If your patch test is satisfactory, you can book your next appointment, at which your practitioner will recommend a personalised treatment plan and, if you feel ready to go ahead, start the course of laser hair removal.
Remember you can discuss every aspect of your treatment with no obligation to go ahead. Our practitioners are extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you have.
On the day of your treatment, you’ll be able to go through any last-minute questions with your practitioner. They will ensure the treatment area is product free, clean and shaven.
What does the treatment feel like?
You will feel the ice cold air from the Cryo Machine as we glide the laser machine across the skin. You’ll feel a slight tingling – some patients have described it as a hot pinprick or stinging sensation – but it shouldn’t really be painful.
After they’ve finished your treatment, your practitioner will apply a cooling gel and then an SPF sunscreen to sooth and protect the treated area.
How long is laser hair removal treatment?
Each treatment can take between 15 minutes and two hours, depending on the amount of hair being treated. The underarm may take 15 minutes or less, legs 30 to 45 minutes, and the back 45 minutes to two hours. Our friendly, expert team will do everything they can to keep you comfortable throughout your course of treatments and ensure you’re free of problem hair and feeling great as soon as possible.
Laser Hair Removal Recovery
Recovery times vary after a laser hair removal session, but you should be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed and go about your normal day-to-day activities.
We just recommend that you avoid doing any activities or using products that could irritate the skin in the area where you’ve been treated. You should also try to stay out of the sun and apply SPF skin protection regularly.
Laser Hair Removal Aftercare
At Laserlife we believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself, so we’re here to support you. We’d recommend you shave 4 days after the treatment has commenced to help pull out any hairs that may be stuck in the skin.
Please avoid saunas, swimming or gym activity for 24 hours post your laser treatment.
Ongoing Laser Hair Removal
Effective treatment is usually achieved over a course of six to eight treatments. These will be spaced about four to six weeks apart and you’ll soon notice a reduction in hair growth after each treatment. Once your treatment programme is complete, you’ll be able to enjoy smooth skin for many months. We recommend a top-up treatment once a year to ensure the area stays hair-free.
