Skin tag removal London: LaserLife Clinic
What is a skin tag?
A skin tag is a small flap of tissue that hangs off the skin by a connecting stalk. Skin tags are not dangerous.
Skin tags appear most often in woman, especially with weight gain and in elderly people. Irritation can occur if the skin tag frequently rubs against clothing or jewellery.Women are more likely to develop skin tags than men and are usually found on the neck, in the armpits, around the groin or under the breast. Removing skin tags will not cause more to grow.
Warts/verruca are benign (non-cancerous) skin growths, most commonly found on the hands or feet. Warts/verruca’s are commonly transmitted from person to person as they are a Human papilloma virus and easily spread via contact.
Often you will pick up the virus and not know it is very common the wart will appear at a later stage. The key is to treat them early before they get ‘roots’ and become very much ingrown .In some cases warts can disappear without any treatment however this can take up to 18 months before the virus burns itself out.
Unfortunately if they don’t the wart can have grown quite large and thick which means it will be difficult to remove. Warts are highly contagious as the affected skin cells release the viruses, so hygiene is of the utmost importance if you are affected.
Skin Tag Removal
For small warts and skin tags, freezing is the simplest and best method of removal. This usually involves applying some liquid nitrogen spray onto the lesion which then blisters for a few days before scabbing and falling off.
The cold temperature kills the cells within the wart or verrucae, as well as constricting the blood supply this causes the cells to die and naturally fall off.
REMEMBER See your GP for advice if:
* You’re not sure whether a lump is a wart/verruca – your GP can usually identify a wart by looking at it
* You have lots of warts/verrucae or suffer from them frequently
* A wart/verruca bleeds, changes in appearance, spreads or causes significant pain.
