Why get Laser Tattoo Removal?

Over the years, the popularity of tattoos has soared, and as a result the number of tattoo removals has also increased.

While tattoos are a great addition for many, they can also be a huge regret for other, Laser tattoo removal can erase this regret.

At LaserLife, we use an Active Q-Switch (AQS) laser to remove tattoos.

The AQS method is acknowledge by dermatologists as the ‘gold standard’ laser tattoo removal treatment.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal Right For Me?

Removing a tattoo is difficult due to the tattoo ink, when it's injected into the skin; the pigment is encapsulated in a band of collagen, once this happens, it's too large to be removed by the body's normal defence mechanisms.

As a result, laser treatment will be required in order to remove tattoos. Laser tattoo removal treatments such as AQS can successfully remove tattoos, and its efficacy and safety have been proven in numerous clinical trials.

Furthermore, treatment results are reliable with little or no evidence that the tattoo ever existed.

Does Tattoo Removal Hurt?

Tattoo Removal feels similar to a hot pinprick, whilst this is mildly uncomfortable, most people tolerate treatment well. We use Cryo cooling technology to reduce discomfort.

Side Effects

  • During the treatment an instant whitening of the tattoo is seen immediately, but this fades quickly.
  • In addition, the area is likely to feel tender for a few hours and can be red and swollen for up to 48 hours.
  • Some tattoos will form a graze which must be left to heal naturally.
  • Initially the tattoo is unlikely to look any different but will fade over the next 4 to 8 weeks as the body disperses the damaged ink.
  • Very rarely the skin may become lighter or darker, or some blistering may form.
  • Another rare side effect is a change to the skin texture and although uncommon, there can be light scarring. This isn't usually due to the treatment, but to interference of grazes or blistering as they must be left to heal naturally.
  • There may be loss of the natural tanning ability in the area treated, which may improve with time.

How is it Performed?

The AQS lasers generate a high powered beam of laser light in an extremely short pulse, the laser light is absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, breaking them down into smaller pieces enabling the natural immune defences to disperse the ink. Over a course of treatments, the tattoo begins fading until it disappears completely.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal Require a Consultation?

Prior to your laser tattoo removal treatment, a consultation is carried out in which your medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment.

This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the treatment.

Before your tattoo removal course commences, you will be asked to give informed consent and a small test patch will need to be carried out at least 24 hours prior to your first session.

This consultation allow us to discuss the predicted length of treatment and overall cost.
